By Breitbart News Staff Writer April 20, 2018 08:52:24Trump Jr. released a series of tweets on Tuesday afternoon that showed his father’s son Paul Manafort’s communications with a Russian lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya, and that he shared a purported dossier containing alleged ties between the Trump campaign and Russia.
The dossier is alleged to have been written by a former British intelligence agent and was written in an effort to discredit Trump and harm his presidency.
Paul Manafort and Natalia Tenev met in Trump Tower on March 11, 2016, shortly after the former Trump campaign manager announced he was dropping out of the race.
The meeting lasted an hour, according to an account provided by the Trump family.
According to the report, Paul Manafort asked Natalia to arrange a meeting between the campaign and the Russian government to discuss the release of the Democratic National Committee’s (DNC) emails.
Natalia Veselinskaya, a Russian-born Russian citizen, said in a recorded conversation that she would provide the DNC with documents, including “all of your emails and all of your phone calls and all the rest,” according to the dossier.
She added that she had access to thousands of emails and that she could “dox” Trump Jr., according to The New York Times.
Trump Jr.’s attorney, Alan Futerfas, said the meeting “was about adoption” and was not about the release emails from the DNC.
“The only conversation I had with Natalia was a brief exchange that was off-the-record.
We did not discuss anything having to do with the Trump-Russia investigation,” Futerfias said.
The report stated that the dossier’s author, a former MI6 officer named Christopher Steele, met with Veselnitetskaya twice in July 2016, but it did not specify when.
Steele has denied any ties to Russia and has denied that he ever worked for the Russian intelligence services.
In a statement to The Associated Press on Tuesday, Trump Jr and Manafort said they did not know about the document until “after it was published.”
“The information in the document is false, and we did not receive it,” the statement said.
“Paul Manafort has acknowledged to the Senate Judiciary Committee that he met with Natasja Veselnitzka at the request of an acquaintance who is an acquaintance of his father.
He has also stated that he has no knowledge that Natasjeselnitska was working with Russian intelligence.”
Paul Manafort, Jr. tweeted the statement on Tuesday evening, along with the tweet that the document was “not true.”
“I have never met Natasija,” Manafort wrote.
“I am told she has been offered a meeting with @VP, @realDonaldTrump, @HillaryClinton and others, but has declined to attend.
The @CNN story is false.”
The Trump family released a statement on their behalf saying they had been given no advance notice about the meeting.
“There was no meeting planned, and it was not to discuss a political campaign, the Trump Organization, or any other subject,” the family said.
The report said Veselniki had told investigators that she wanted to discuss “a number of topics, including the release and dissemination of information on the Russian election meddling, but would also like to hear directly from Donald Trump.”
Trump Jr.’a statement, released on Twitter on Tuesday night, said he had met with “a woman in her 20s” and “who was not a government official.”
The woman “confessed that she has substantial information about illegal activities connected to the Trump organization, but did not provide any further details.”
Trump, Jr., said he told the woman that “this information would incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russia.”
“If it’s what you say I love it especially later in the summer,” he wrote.
