The Texas sugar cane industry is doing pretty well.
The state is on track to have a harvest of more than 40 million metric tons in 2021, up from a low of just under 20 million tons in 2020, according to data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
But that’s not all.
The Texas sugar industry has been growing at a rapid pace in recent years.
In the year that ended July 1, the state’s cane output was up by 7.1 percent, according the U,C.I.A. and Texas Sugar Association.
The industry is also benefiting from the state legalizing and taxing the sale of sugar in the state, which has seen a surge in consumer demand.
And as more Texans begin to look at the crop as a way to keep sugar in their homes, the industry is looking for a way out.
“We have some great sugar farmers in Texas, and we’ve seen a lot of growers take advantage of that,” said John Schmader, executive director of the Texas Sugar Growers Association.
“And so that’s what we’re seeing as we look at ways to try to attract more people into the industry.”
Schmader added that while Texas’ sugar industry is “very strong,” the state needs to get its agriculture policy in line with the industry’s goals of sustainability and economic development.
“I think a lot is in place to get sugar into our homes as soon as possible,” he said.
“What we need to do is ensure that the agricultural system in Texas is in line, and that the incentives for farmers to grow cane are right,” he continued.
“If you want to get a commodity like cane, you need to have the right incentives and the right laws.”
Sugar cane has been on a tear for years in Texas.
According to the U.,C.
Is sugar production is expected to hit 9.5 million metric ton by 2021.
And it’s growing by an average of almost 6 percent annually.
The industry employs more than 6,700 people, according U.C.
A and Texas Agriculture Commissioner Chris Bell.
While it’s a big growth rate for a commodity, Schmaders association says it’s important to remember that Texas has historically been a leader in sugar production.
The sugar industry accounts for just 0.4 percent of Texas’ total sugar production, according Schmads association.
Texas sugar cane farmers have also benefited from the emergence of the agricultural ethanol industry, which can help the industry stay competitive.
Last year, the U ,C.is ethanol industry contributed nearly $5 billion to the state economy, according a study by the Texas Agriculture Commission.
That means that, over the course of a decade, the sugar industry will add $6.2 billion to its annual income.
Sugar industry experts say that while the industry has made strides in recent decades, it needs to keep working hard to remain competitive.
“There’s no question that the industry needs to diversify,” said Bell.
“But it needs also to be careful about the impact of climate change, the impact on the economy and the impact to our food system.”
The Sugar Association and the Texas Cane Growers’ Association are urging the state to keep the pace of sugar production high.
And they want more Texas sugar farmers to get into the business.
“The industry will be very successful in Texas in the years ahead if we keep up the pace we’re on right now,” Schmaders association said.
